Sean Cononie, stated, "We put out more outreach vehicles and teams of workers than we have ever done for the current cold weather warnings." Ten crews went out and covered most of Broward County and a little of North Dade. Cononie added, "At a time of us taking 80 percent of our vendors off the streets from selling our paper because it was so cold the outreach became very expensive." Each night of outreach and bringing the homeless back to our shelters cost an additional $3100.00 per night. According to Cononie, "There are times you have to spend money when it is not budgeted for the protection of human life and we will get blessed one way or another and somehow the money will come back in to us for the next emergency"

The teams passed out many blankets, donated leather jackets, heater meals, hot coffee, sweat shirts and offered many words to the homeless for them to come indoors and seek shelter. Some of the homeless prefer to stay by themselves. For those who wanted to stay outdoors after the supplies were given to them, an emergency telephone number was given to them in case they wanted to seek shelter later in the night.
