A man found slain in an alley has been identified as George Spencer, 45, who was homeless, the Broward Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

A passerby found Spencer's body in the 2800 block of Southwest 44th Avenue, just north of Hallandale Beach Boulevard, on Aug. 31. The death has been ruled a homicide, investigators said.

People who live near the alley told detectives that Spencer lived there.

Investigators are not saying how Spencer was killed.
